Can Bolts charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

As of Sep. 26, 2024, the myChevrolet app did have a "Tesla Supercharger" section in the Public Charging page.
The "Tesla Supercharger" section was added for me on Sep. 27. Other people got this option sooner, but it took longer for me, don't know why.
I ordered the NACS DC adapter. The app said I could use code NACSSHIP to avoid the $8.85 shipping charge, but then I couldn't find a place to enter that code.
Since the myChevrolet app was behaving like a very distracted teenager during the ordering process, I was afraid it would just drop my transaction, and I'd have to start over.
So I just paid the shipping. The confirmation email said:
"We estimate that your products will be available for shipment within 4 or more weeks."
 
Charged successfully at a Tesla NACS supercharger near me, using the Lectron adapter and the Tesla app. No problem charging, but it took me 5 minutes to get the adapter off the charger cable! I know I'm not as strong as I used to be, but it was significantly difficult to hold the latch button and pull hard enough. I had to plug the adapter back into the car to get some leverage, and kept wiggling the cable until it finally came out. Perhaps applying a little Vaseline in appropriate places would help. I'm writing an email to Lectron.
 
Helpful post, thank you very much and glad you were able eventually to get the adapter off. I'm certainly looking forward to when NACS ports are built into non-Teslas...
 
I ordered the GM adapter a few weeks ago via the MyChevrolet app when the Tesla option appeared. At the time I received an e-mail which simply remarked “back ordered” and there has been no communication since. I usually charge at home so waiting isn’t terrible. With holiday driving season coming up though, it would be nice to be able to take advantage of Tesla’s network.

I have to agree that the ordering experience via the app was pretty bad. There were several screens to deal with and they were slow to load. I recall that applying the shipping discount code was pretty non-obvious snd there wasn’t feedback until the final step if the code was applied.

If I were GM, I would probably want to sell the adapters via an Amazon store and simply send customers a coupon code to use there. The Chevy way of doing things apparently is set up so dealers get a cut of the action like you ordered at their parts counter. I checked several zip codes and the price of the adapter was the same no matter what, but I found over $100 variation in the price of the PowerUp Charger home EVSE depending on the zip code used in the parts search even if you had it sent directly to your home address.
 
Has anybody actually done this successfully yet? I was planning a trip to western New York state to view the solar eclipse April 8, 2024. the A Better Route Planner (ABRP) app planned me into a Tesla charging station. It knows I have a 2017 Bolt and I told it only to show me stations with CCS charging bays. I've found a lot of conflicting information on the Internet about this. I want to know if I can trust ABRP or not.
Hi All, I have a 2020 Bolt. Got the email from Chevy with the news about the Tesla Supercharge option, which is awesome! The email came with a link to find the closest dealership to do the software upgrade. I schedules the appointment, drove 20 miles to the appointment, and the Service Dept had no idea that there was a software upgrade available! They had never heard of the Tesla Supercharge option. A complete waste of time. Now I am seeing in this forum that I may not even need an upgrade. Is there any way to find out by VIN#? Thanks!
 
Has anybody received their Chevrolet branded NACS to CCS adapter yet? If not has anybody contacted GM to find out when they will be sending them out. I would have gotten the A2Z adapter but because GM had an issue with me they gave me $300 in GM points so the GM branded one is free for me.

I found out I did not need an upgrade; also another problem was that I did not have the "Public Option" on my My Chevorlet App -- that took a long time to resolve but the resolution was clicking on the ON STAR button in the car and asking to have a "Welcome Conversation". That worked and I got the Public Option on the App and was able to put in an order for the Adapter...which is on backorder! The email address that I used: [email protected].
 
I was told roughly the same thing your dealer told you, and they also told me that they would not do the update proactively, but only after codes were thrown. So I contacted a different dealer and mentioned service bulletin #24-NA-200 which you can read in full at https://gsi.oemautoinfo.com/gsi/sho...gion=1&docSyskey=6654704&windowID=si859753413 . That got some action.
I have a 2017 Bolt. Do you know how to search for a service bulletin for that year? This service bulletin is for 2019-2020.

My salesman set up my EVgo charging credit, enabled Autocharge+, ordered California Carpool stickers, and sat in the car while we went through the OnStar Welcome, which already had my credit card information entered.

This dealer was selling at MSRP when other dealers were charging $4000 over MSRP.

I have come to understand that not all dealers take care of all of the details.
 
I believe only the 2019-2020 Bolt models need to have a software patch in order to use the adapter with the Tesla network. Apparently the older and newer models are already capable. I am sure someone will correct me if that is in error. Apologies in advance.

I have a 2017 Bolt and ordered the official GM adapter via the MyChevrolet app. I got an e-mail confirming the part as “back ordered” serveral weeks ago, but it has been radio silence or rather e-mail silence from GM since then.

GM could really stand to make the app better. GM keeps iterating on the original app from seven years ago. Most of the original screens are now gone, but there are hints of the bad old app here and there. They really should have thrown the whole mess out and started over. I wouldn’t mind going through the learning curve of a completely fresh app if it worked better. The thing I like the least is how slow the response to the remote operation is. It seems like it takes 30 to 60 seconds for the car to respond at times. It could be that the slowness is the result of having the app send the command to be queued on a cloud server and the car only periodically polls the server to see if there are commands available for the car to execute. If so, we’re stuck with slow responses.

Some of my friends have Tesla products and the Tesla app is much more feature reach and responsive than MyChevrolet.

If you are looking for something specific, a Google search works better than a search on NHTSA.
This service bulletin is only for 2019-2020, but if you can find it and not the 2017, it's because it doesn't apply to the 2017. It does not apply.

You could search this forum, if there's something specific that you want to research.

The long way is to look at the TSB list for your car on NHTSA, and go through the long list.

There are Recalls, Service Campaigns, and Technical Service Bulletins.
You will be notified about recalls, and they are free. You might be notified about Service Campaigns, and they are probably free. TSBs are lying around, and may or may not be applied when you bring a car in for service, unless you have a complaint that is covered by a TSB. Some are free.

Start at https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls put in 2017 Chevrolet Bolt

Click on the number 974 under MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS.

Sometimes you can see an identifier of what you want, but you probably have to at least press + to see a little description.
There are usually "Associated Documents", pdf files which contain more information, sometimes the corrective actions.

If you started with a search for your specific VIN, it will show any open recalls. It won't show recalls that have been fixed on your vehicle.
From that screen, the "Learn More" button will show complaints. Scroll down to "MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS", which includes the service campaigns and TSBs.
