I bought a 2023 Bolt EV a few days ago and I don't understand how to interpret the theft-deterrent alarm status indicator (on the dash). I also don't understand why the alarm
turns itself off sometimes. Page 19 of the manual says a slow flash indicates that the system is armed. When I pushed the lock button on the RKE twice this afternoon, I got a beep and the alarm status indicator started emitting a fast red flash (I estimate about 80 msec) approximately every 2 seconds. Is this normal? Is this what Chevy calls a slow flash? I came back about 2 hours later and I plugged the original equipment EVSE in and I saw the normal green flashes on the CSI but no red flashes. The RKE was in the house. I did not notice if the red light was flashing shortly before I plugged in the charger but it should have been flashing because I left the car with the alarm armed and I did not open a door or do anything other than plug in the charger. Is it normal for the theft alarm to turn off when charging starts? I got the RKE and I used it to turn the theft alarm back on and then I got the pattern green, green, green, red, red repeated approximately every 3 seconds. Is this normal? The battery is approximately 3/4 full so the 3 green flashes seems correct. But why 2 red flashes? Page 19 does not mention 2 fast flashes every 3 seconds. I have gotten this pattern while charging with the alarm armed before but, on one occasion while charging with the alarm armed, the green light and the red light were flashing but not in that coordinated pattern. Each was flashing its own pattern independently of the other with both lights on simultaneously sometimes. Is this normal? Does it mean something different from the organized pattern I am getting now?
