Chevrolet has chosen AeroVironment EVSE as official choice

All the EVSE that come with Tesla's are not Ul approved. From what I understand, as long as you plug something in (so not hardwired) it doesn't have to be UL listed/approved. I wouldn't worry to much about retrofitting an EVSE with a different cord. As long as you not trying to pull 30+ amps...

Bolt EV full website is live!

Tony is working on an adapter: http://shop.quickchargepower.com/JDapterQuickChargePowercom-Jdapter.htm I am telling you: If you take the nissan leaf trickle charger EVSE (120 volt/12 amps 2011-2012 model is what I tested) and you plug the J1772 in a rav4ev, it won't charge/work. Not compatible.

Is the Bolt a compliance car?

but they also got tesla shares in return for the $100M ? In november I was rav4ev#1: number 36 on the efficiency list with 3.56 Miles/kWh (non chademo so real numbers) rav4ev#2: number 8 on the efficiency list with 4.83 Miles/kWh (with chademo so fake numbers) The chademo addition tricks the...

Is the Bolt a compliance car?

These are the figures I heard for the Toyota Rav4ev: Toyota provided the 'gliber' (car without engine/transmission) paid Tesla $60k per vehicle for all the batteries/inverter/charger/electronics assemble in toyota Canada factory. They originally sold for $53k MSRP. I leased mine for $35k to a...

But they are not really J1772 compatible. EG: It doesn't work on a tesla charger (tesla/toyota rav4ev/mercedes EV)

    Bolt EVSE Recommendations?

My reason for a 30' long cable is I have sometimes people dropping by with an EV, while my car is still parked in the carport. In that case my visitor can park in front of my EV and still get a charge. The fact that the cable is way thinner and more flexible helps a lot.

    Bolt EVSE Recommendations?

In which case you are prob better off with the assembled one, and if you want a longer cable, i bet you chris is more than happy to quote you for the extra cable length and have a plug&play unit delivered to your home.

    Bolt EVSE Recommendations?

Not hard, there is a manual provided, and several people have provided their own manuals. You just need to know a bit about electricity, 32 or 40 amps of power is serious amount of electrons through a cable/connector. People have posted questions and pictures of their builds on...

    Bolt EVSE Recommendations?

I used a kit. Since I wanted 40ft for my portable and 30 feet for my stationary EVSE, I ordered a kit without the J1772 cable. Ordered the cables directly from http://shop.quickchargepower.com/J-Plug-J1772-40-Amp-Plug-Cable-Assembly-JPC40A.htm Since I am in CA and they ship from OR, saves me...

Will the Chevy Bolt EV be a 'game changer'?

Trick is to have a timer set to when you want to leave or use a smart app to start your heating/cooling remotely (i have a toyota rav4ev that has those features) It will run the heater for both the car and the batteries from the wall power. That way when you drive off, evertything is already...

Will the Chevy Bolt EV be a 'game changer'?

For an ICE to go faster you need a bigger engine: 4 cyl -> 6 or even 8 which adds a lot more weight and space. An electric motor is really so much smaller even with more power. The range is determined by the amount of kWh of the batteries, which have a related amount of drain/charging current...
