New details were just revealed about VW's big plans for installing EV charging across the U.S. including a Tesla-like highway fast DC charging network usable by Bolt EV drivers in the not too distant future.

This article is for folks who think the Bolt is destined to remain a city-car useful for commuting and is limited to charging at home.

New York announced plans for widespread Thruway DCFC stations something like two years ago. IIRC, a whopping two or so have been installed.
 
West coast already has enough stations to enable a trip from Mexico to Canada. Not all routes, and not a lot of backup if certain stations are down though, so improvements are still needed. Also some of the must-use stations are the cheapo 24KW variety sometimes installed at car dealers, often closed at night.

Getting closer to ideal gas station like saturation, but still a long way from that...
