Came across this article this morning, a concept rendering of the Tesla Model 3 (granted, from someone not even connected to Tesla in any way, so it's just a wild guess).

Either way, it's super ugly. Can't imagine that selling in the hundreds of thousands And it's not even the type of ugly that would make it cheaper to build!

The actual Model III will certainly be competition. That said, there will be many who are drawn to the hatchback/crossover form factor of the Bolt. Plus the Bolt will likely be much more reliable. And finally, the Model III will probably be $5k-$10k more expensive than the Bolt when comparably equipped.

Hopefully the Model III attract attention to EVs and GM capitalizes on that attention. They have a solid package in the Bolt and it stacks up well against the competition, even Tesla.
