EVgo has the right idea, just doesn't go far enough

Today I had my first experience with DCFC. Here in Los Angeles there are widespread power outages due to raging wild fires, and my home is dark. The Bolt had only 30 miles left and no indication of when power might be restored. Fortunately there was an EVgo DCFC a few miles away. I arrived...

From a Leaf to a Bolt: Early Returns

The lock is actually a very bad thing. It prevents plugsharing at, for example workplace charging. Even when you are done, the next guy can't take over the "hose". If you are actually using the trickle charger, there are other ways to prevent its theft.

What the dealer told me about Bolt sales

Today I picked up my new Volt and spoke to the sales manager about the reasons I had ultimately gone for a Volt rather than the Bolt I had expected to buy He told me that the dealers were building up very large inventories of unsold Bolts, and that "something needs to happen" in order for Bolts...

    Bolt or Volt?

I'm perplexed now. I've been waiting since forever to get a Bolt, am ready to lease, and have a good price. In the meantime, I've been driving my wife's Volt. I took a few test drives in a Bolt and to be totally honest I was a tiny bit disappointed. Compared to the Volt it felt a little...

    Rate my deal, please???

Dealer has offered Bolt premier with DCFC, Infotainment, and Confidence (43, 510 MSRP) for $460/month including California sales tax, zero driveaway, 15,000 miles. I think this is a good deal. Anyone know a way to do better? Any dealers want to make a better deal? Thanks!

Best deal in Los Angeles/Southern California??

OK, I'm ready to go. My Volt lease expires in a few weeks. Best deal I've heard of here is $4160 off MSRP and $3500 incentive on a lease. Anyone got anything similar in Socal? Any dealers here want to make a sale? Where are we getting the best deals, anyone know??? Which dealers are...

Honda Fuel Cell Clarity....Can't even give me one!

A recent article http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/2017-honda-clarity-first-drive-review/ explained why one can drive a Honda Clarity Fuel Cell car basically for free. Needless to say, this attracted my attention, since I'm close to committing around $400 a month, plus insurance and...

    Rydell lowers price!

The newest Rydell ad shows $1500 off LT although still only $1000 off premier Offer is $3350 total drive away and $289 plus tax. Effectively $382 plus tax and you still get clean air rebate.

Here's what we know, here's what I think....

We know... Chevy has described the battery as 60 kWh Several testers have demonstrated 60 kWh useful capacity Chevy provides the hilltop option of 90% charging Chevy has a worst-in-class 60% capacity guarantee I think... The battery is actually 60 kWh capacity, not the 20% larger or so that...

Are you getting an EV related personal license plate for your Bolt?

Anyone else getting an EV related personal plate?? Share it here because if you have a clever one people in other states may still be able to get it I wanted CHEV-E but it was taken. So I went for E CHEVY I also thought about 238 MILE and 60 KWH but they seemed geared toward EV fans only

    Los Angeles Bolt sales

On another forum, one local Chevy dealer reported he had been allocated 144 Bolts for the next several months, and the 100 of them had deposits in place. I can't wait for first reports of what people actually end up paying.

    Hilltop Reserve

I got a response from Chevy to the question I asked at the LA Auto show Hill top reserve is an option to limit charging to approximately 90% so that people charging at hilltop locations can take advantage of regenerative braking on the way down Good job, Chevy! This is a feature lacking in...

I got to see and sit in a Bolt today

There are two Bolts on display at the Los Angeles auto show. I got to check it out pretty thoroughly and it looks really good I had been concerned that it would be too small. It is smaller on the outside than my Focus was, but far more spacious inside. Great headroom in front and good in...

    Bolt "must have" features...IMO

Key performance requirements in my opinion: 200 mile nominal range, 150 miles safely in reasonably anticipated conditions (110 F daytime with air conditioning, 10 F winters with heat running full) Heat-pump type heating (not resistive) 10 kW level 2 charging (level 3 desirable but not a...
