Is the Bolt a compliance car?

If compliance means selling an EV with a range of over 200 miles at less than $40k, then everyone else is non-compliant.

    I Drove Bolt Today...

The doors are mechanically opened from the inside by pulling the door handle, regardless of whether the lock button is up or down, or whether power is available or not.

Is the Bolt a compliance car?

No, because there are no 200+ mile compliance cars. The Bolt advances EVs in terms of range and affordability. I expect sales to be relatively strong here in Ontario, Canada and there's nothing here to comply with.

Will the Chevy Bolt EV be a 'game changer'?

I don't think it's a game changer. But the Bolt/Ampera-e can't be ignored either. Everyone, including strong players Nissan-Renault and Tesla will be adjusting their previous plans based on the Bolt. That's significant. If Tesla gets the Model 3 out in reasonable time, and I hope they do, that...

2017 Chevy Bolt EV Release Date and Updates: $37k, LT & Premium Trim Levels

A couple of posters at the GM-Volt forum say they've placed orders for a Bolt, meaning an actual order was placed through GM's system. However, there is still no pricing for some of the options.

    Vehicles Comparable to Bolt EV

That's a good list. I can't think of any other vehicles you haven't mentioned. I think of the Bolt as an upscale/premium subcompact crossover. No AWD, but it does have an elevated seating position. The EV powertrain and skateboard configuration should make the Bolt substantially quicker, with...

Interested (but not an owner obviously)

The $35k probably won't include destination. Count on $36,200 for a Model 3. I'm considering a Pacifica Hybrid as well but not because it's cool. It's still a minivan, after all. If you want flash, go for a Tesla. But even that will be short-lived. Before long it will be just another Model 3.

    US Order Guide

Such is the power of marketing. I'm happy so many people think this, since it means I should be able to get a better deal on a Bolt.

    Chevrolet Bolt EV gearbox details

The i-MiEV and the i3 are both RWD. FWD sells better in snowy climates. I'm not going to argue whether it is better, because we aren't going to solve that today. Suffice it to say I'm happy that the Bolt is FWD.

How did GM create Tesla’s dream car first?

Up until the last couple of weeks I think the hype around the Bolt has been rather subdued, actually, compared to the Model 3. But I think the range announcement surprised a lot of people. I was expecting something just a hair over 200 miles. 238 probably sends Tesla back to the drawing board...

    US Order Guide

The Volt and Bolt both prioritize efficiency over creature comforts. When you're designing for minimum weight, power seats and a sunroof are the first things to go. It's one of the tradeoffs for 53-mile and 238-mile EV ranges, respectively.

    No navigation?

During her CES keynote Mary Barra mentioned EV-specific routing to maximize range or stop at charging stations. To me this suggests it's not simply an implementation of Google Maps or Apple Maps through Android Auto/CarPlay. They may be implementing this through the myChevrolet app. Here's...

    Priicing next week?

DFC (not to be confused with DCFC) is included. The * and *** disclaimers are generic. They aren't referenced on the web page. Go with the press release and disclaimer 3.

CCS DC fast charger coverage map

This map is only intended to be a rough guide, like the Tesla Supercharger map. It would be ideal if someone with web development knowledge could produce something like http://supercharge.info/ . Then you could customize radius to your liking. That's out of my expertise.

Exact range and charging times on Tuesday Sept., 13th

Excellent. They also say the Ampera-e will be unveiled at the Paris motor show on September 29, although I'm not expecting it will differ very much from the Bolt.

Paris Forum - all new UK vehicles to be ZeroEmission by 2050

Agree. Fuel cells have a role to play, but not in personal transportation. I understand that some automakers are hung up on the refueling time advantage of H2, but there comes a point where DC fast charging is "fast enough" that it's no longer a deal breaker for most people. I think 350 kW is...

CCS no longer listed for Bolt

Pam Fletcher from GM spoke at conference yesterday. She reiterated the 90 miles in 30 minutes. http://seekingalpha.com/article/4004485-general-motors-gm-management-presents-citi-2016-global-technology-conference-transcript

    Anxious for more GM News

They're starting to put out bit more information now. There was the press release yesterday about one-pedal driving. I'm guessing, based on past events, that they will do a series of these small releases/teases over the next couple of weeks and then we'll get a full reveal.

Chevy Bolt vs Tesla Model 3, lack of charger network matter?

People owe it to themselves to actually look at the availability of CCS chargers in their area rather than assuming there is no charging network for the Bolt. In some places, for some people, CCS chargers may actually be more useful :o than Superchargers. In my case, for example, I rarely...

CCS DC fast charger coverage map

There are some CCS-only units, such as the 24-kW variety installed at some BMW dealers. But yes, these are a small portion of the total: about 15%.
