GM announces LG Chem as 2015 Supplier of the Year

As the lithium-ion batteyr supplier for the current Chevy Spark EV, GM Volt, and the upcoming Bolt EV, LG Chem was recognized as a top supplier.

Automotive suppliers from 17 countries received GM’s coveted Supplier of the Year award for going above and beyond GM’s requirements, designed to provide customers with the most innovative technologies that benefit customers and the industry’s highest quality vehicles.

GM’s 2015 recognition represents a nearly 40 percent increase in the number of suppliers recognized compared to 79 recipients in 2014. More than half of the suppliers are repeat winners from 2014.

In slightly confusing wording, it seems like 110 suppliers were presented with the award so I'm not really sure it's that prestigious of an award!

Probably because we're all dying for more and more details on the Bolt, but seriously, one of 110 best GM suppliers? Why would there even be a press release about this?
