Chevy Bolt vs. Tesla Model 3: Elon Musk And GM Duel For Top Electric Car

Whoops, think I mangled that quote, sorry. I would not be surprised if there was a COGS/transport/sales incentive loss of $9,000 on a base model Bolt, and if there were, it would still be a win for Chevy. Just the other day, the cost for the ZEV credits was stated to be $3.5K each(or so). That...

Bay Area Electrician for 240 line run for Bolt EVSE plugin

Have any of you Bay Area Volt/Bolt or other EV owners had a great experience with an electrician wiring your house specifically for your EV? I have contacted several local dealers, and they said that they can not recommend anyone, even though many/most articles about EV's suggest contacting...

    Purchase / Lease details

CA. They have removed all limitation on the Green Stickers(as of September) and both the Green and White(full EV) Stickers are currently set to expire January 2019. They could extend both of them again, end both programs, or there is a chance that the Whites could be extended again and the...

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

I have driven all 3 now. The BMW was the first, and it was a wiz bang car, including the parking assist, which is slightly nicer than the version on the Bolt/Volt. It is not perfect for our family due to the small area in the backseat. Anyone sitting behind me(6'3") has to stradle my seat. My...

    Purchase / Lease details

For me, my current car needs $3k worth of work, and being an 8 year old car, I do not feel like dropping that into much into it at this time. I would rather trade it in for some value, and get a car which offers me HOV lane access.

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

I wouldn't say it is bickering. Some of us really like the car, and would like to get one, but are not sheep, so look at what other options there are in the market. The different in range between a BMW i3 and the Bolt means very little in my particular situation, since my commute is 40-60 miles...

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

For the Bolts Lease, the residual is supposed to be 60 or 61 percent, so a drop of 50% from new would only be a 10% increase. The Volt lease has a 48% residual, so if the car value drops 50% in the three years, you are in the positive on your lease!

    Order Updates?

Yep. The Fremont Chevy dealership received 28 Bolts today. The 3 shown in the picture were driven away, and they kept 1 for test drives(I drove it this evening.) The others were bundled back up and shipped off to other dealers in the area. The sales guy did not know if they were all demo...

Good news if you're in Redwood: Boardwalk Chevy gets 39 bolts next week

It totally depends on their goals for the Bolt. If I have the choice of the Volt on their very aggressive/attractive Lease rate, or the Bolt at Full MSRP with the Leasing company keeping the Federal Tax credit, I will pass on the Bolt and go for the Volt while being a little bummed. My other...

    Bolts are in Transit

I am not sure about that. If they do not ever plan to sell the Bolt, then it definitely is not worth the equipment/training cost required to get Bolts on their lot, but if they do hope to sell the Bolt, early training/infrastructure would be good. As long as they are not totally out of the way...

Good news if you're in Redwood: Boardwalk Chevy gets 39 bolts next week

That is actually Redwood City, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Unfortunately all their allotment until February has been "pre-ordered" with the down payment. Very similar around the Bay, San Leandro dealer is the same, as is Captiol. Hopefully GM sees the demand and ups the build rate a bit...

SF-LA trip in a Bolt- Is it viable on I5 yet?

With the "238" mile range of the Bolt, it seems like we are on the brink of viable EV trips from SF to LA on I5, where you only goal is to cover the distance, and not take a leisurely stroll down 101. While the range makes it seem like a single stop in Kettleman City for a Quick Charge would...

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

Just another person asking if any of the Bolt "buyers" have heard updated offers from their Dealers who have informed them that it was "in transit". I have never purchased a car this close to launch before, but was pretty surprised to hear from the dealer that they wanted a refundable deposit...

Chevy Bolt to arrive in large numbers Nov 28

According to one East Bay dealer, "... all of our Bolt's that we have coming have the Fast charging provision.", so they obviously feel like it is important for them to be able to sell the car.

Official Dealer Stock Thread - Who Has Uncommitted Inventory on Their Lot?

It is listed as "in transit", so not on the lot, and possibly spoken for, but it will definitely lead to inquiries.

How Much I Paid for My Bolt

+1 Trying to use Standard Economic Theory on EV car sales (particularly in CARB states) is flawed. 1) The big SUV/Pickup/Gas guzzler sellers need ZEV credits in order to be able to sell in the state. 2) They do whatever they can to get those credits, either lose money themselves on the cars...

Bolt EV Lease Program Announced -- $309/Month, Net $0 Down After CVRP

The reason why this does not look good so far for those people in the know, is that Chevy is only giving $2500 of the $7500 Federal Rebate to the customer at drive off. That $5000 makes the lease look much worse than other options. Yes, the bolt has double the range of the BMW i3, etc, but...

Business Insider - Chevy Bolt makes other EVs 'utterly irrelevant"

It is typical marketing/media hyperbole to get people talking. For some people, this will make any other EV choice less attractive, but they will not be irrelevant, let along utterly irrelevant. People keep asking why someone would buy a significantly lower range EV AT CURRENT PRICES. For the...
